English (Original Instructions) GENERAL SAFETY RULES Your cultivator has been engineered and manufactured to Ryobi's high standard for dependability, ease of operation, and operator safety. When properly cared for, it will give you years of rugged, trouble-free performance. Never allow adults to operate this machine without proper instruction. Keep bystanders, helpers, pets and children at least 15 meters from the machine and extension cord while it is operation. [. . . ] Place a washer on the outside of the wheel and slide to rest against the wheel. Push the hitch pin into the hole on the end of the axle to secure the wheel / drag stake assembly. NOTE: The hitch pin should be pushed into the axle until the center of the pin rests on top of the axle. Repeat with the second wheel. UNPACKING This product requires assembly. Make sure that all items listed in the packing list are included. WARNING: This new product has been shipped in a partially assembled condition as described below. Carefully check the packing list below to ensure all items are included in the package; the packing list describes all loose items that are not assembled to the product as shipped. Do not operate the product if any packing list items are already assembled to your product when you unpack it. Operation of a product that may have been improperly preassembled could result in serious personal injury. INSTALLING THE WHEEL / DRAG STAKE ASSEMBLY See Figure 6 Use the wheel / drag stake assembly to transport the unit to and from the work area or when cultivating. To install: Remove the adjustment knob located at the back of the tine shield. Insert the wheel / drag stake assembly into the bracket at the back of the tine shield. To place the wheels in a high position, insert the knob in the first hole. For a lower wheel position, insert the knob in the second or third hole. Insert adjustment knob through holes in bracket, passing through desired hole in wheel / drag stake assembly, to secure wheel / drag stake assembly at desired height. Thread the adjustment knob into the nut and tighten, to secure wheel / drag stake assembly. Inspect the tool carefully to make sure no breakage or damage occurred during shipping. Do not discard the packing material until you have carefully inspected and satisfactorily operated the tool. If any parts are damaged or missing, please call RYOBI customer service for assistance. WARNING: If any parts are damaged or missing do not operate this tool until the parts are replaced. Do not attempt to modify this tool or create accessories not recommended for use with this tool. Any such alteration or modification is misuse and could result in a hazardous condition leading to possible serious personal injury. INSTALLING THE TINES See Figure 7 The cultivator has four tines --two inner tines stamped B and C, and two outer tines stamped A and D. For correct operation of the unit, the tines must be installed in the correct orientation. NOTE: The view of the gearbox for tine installation is from the front of the cultivator. Lean the unit back on its wheels so that the handlebar rests on the ground. WARNING: 7 English (Original Instructions) OPERATION Place tine C on the tine shaft to the left of the gear box. Place a felt washer on each side of the tine shaft, and slide to rest against the inner tines. [. . . ] Do not allow the switch trigger cable to become pinched when raising the handlebar. All other parts should be replaced at an Authorized Service Center. TROUBLESHOOTING PROBLEM Motor fails to start when switch trigger is depressed.
